Mission Statement The Department of Design and Graphic Communications offers preperation toward a professional career in graphic design leading to an associate's degree or a bachelor of arts degree. Extensive hands-on computer lab and studio work structured around a critique format compliment the studies in composition, color theory, and the history of art and design. |
Program Goals The program's balanced emphisis on current production technology and visual aesthetics is communicated to the students through extsensive one-on-one dialogues with both instructors and peers. The Design student is not only expected to achieve competency with the production of finished, creative work, she or he must also demonstrate the abilty to define and refine concepts and to verbalize an understanding and rationale for those ideas. Critical thinking, written, oral, and anaylitcal skills are reinforced through nontraditional instruction, field trips, multidciplinary course work, and a wide range of practica and internships. |
